Two-Step Stamping is one of my favorite techniques! It's so easy to do, and yet makes any stamper look like a PRO! Choose your favorite two-step stamping set and follow along!
What you need: Any Two-Step stamping set (I used Sketch-It), ink colors to match, Sponge Daubers (optional).
Step 1: It's a good idea to always start with your lightest color first. Choose your image and ink it up. Then stamp your light color on to your cardstock. |
The nice thing about two-step stamping is that the stamp sets are designed so that you don't have to be EXACT when you stamp! (So...if you are an exact kind of person - you know who you are - just get over it!)
Here's the first step completed. |
Step 2: With your second image, ink it up and stamp directly on top of the first image you stamped. Again, you don't have to be exact, just aim for the general spot you need.
(Oops! Sorry about the shadows in the picture!) |

To create the "squiggles" on the sunflower, I stamped over and over turning the paper as I stamped. (Much easier than turning the stamp around!) |
Here's the final result for step 2. |
Step 3: If desired, use other images to complete the picture. |
Bonus Step: To dress up my flowers and leaves a little, I'm using a Sponge Dauber. Just dip the dauber into the ink and then rub in circles around where you want the ink to go. It's called "Burnishing". If you "daub" it, you'd end up with circles of ink instead of a "smear" of ink. (Hope that makes sense!)
Notice that I actually have my Sponge Dauber labeled. Rather than washing mine off (who wants to do that?) I've labeled each one with it's respective color. |

Notice the difference between the two flowers with the middle burnished with Pumpkin Pie ink and the other one that's just stamped. It really makes a difference! |
For the finished card, I added the lady bugs (colored in Ruby Red) and a scalloped edge created with the Slit Punch and 1/8" Circle Punch.
