Frequently Asked Questions
People ask a lot of the same questions as they're thinking about joining Stampin' Up! So I've compiled some of the most common ones here. If I haven't answered your question, or you need more clarification, just ask!
What does a demonstrator actually do?
Share your love of creating cards, gifts and/or scrapbook pages with family and friends. You can do this any way you'd like, sharing one-on-one, doing in-home workshops, classes and/or other events. You can also create your own handmade-finished products for sale in boutiques, stores, or even online! If you choose, you can also help others enjoy the fun and flexibility of running their own rubber stamping business.
I'm not sure I can't do this by myself - what kind of support will I receive?
When you sign up, you will be a part of the StampMonkeys team. I’ll provide you with all the help and support you need to accomplish your goals, whatever they are. (i.e. support your stamping habit or building a successful business.) You can call or email any time and I'll be there to help! You'll also be invited to my monthly team meetings where you'll learn stamping techniques, business ideas, and other things from me and the rest of the StampMonkeys team.
In addition, Stampin’ Up! also provides:
- A demonstrator website for demonstrator resources and online ordering. All communication from Stampin' Up! headquarters takes place on this site - it's available all day, every day.
- Stampin' Up! also has a large staff of Demo Support Agents waiting for your calls at the other end of a 1-800 phone number! If there's a question I don't have an answer to, you can call them!
- You'll receive a monthly magazine - Stampin' Success - filled with creative stamping ideas and business information.
- Stampin' Up! also provides an affordable demonstrator website that you can customize to your business, upload your own samples, put events on your calendar, etc. You'll be able to send all your customers to your own site for more information! (Plus you have my support to help you use the technology that I've used for the past few years if you are interested in more than that!)
- A FABULOUS incentive program that anyone can works towards if you are interested in bonuses and awards!
How much time does a Stampin' Up! business take?
Closely related to that question is something like this..."I like what you've done with your business, your website, classes and other programs, but I don't have time (or talent, or energy, etc) to do what you do." This is the best news of all! YOU DON'T HAVE TO! You can make your business YOUR business! I'm here to help and support you in whatever your goals might be!
How will I make money as a demonstrator?
Since customers pay you directly, you will keep 20% of each order placed at the time of their payment, it's called "Instant Income." You can also earn a volume override (commission up to an additional 20%) when your monthly sales are over $400. If you build a team, you can also earn monthly downline overrides.
Do people really make money at this?
YES!! Depending on how much time you want or have to put into your business, you can make whatever income you want, it's completely up to you!!
What are the minimum sales requirements?
To stay active as a demonstrator you will need to sell a minimum of $300 per quarter, which equates to only one or two workshops
Do I have to recruit other demonstrators?
Not at all! It is nice to build your own team, especially since we can earn a commission based on our downline’s sales. It's more potential income for you!
Do I have to keep paper & stamps on hand?
No, you will only order items when someone places an order and pays you in advance, so you won’t need to keep inventory of products. (Any supplies you keep on hand will be for your own use in workshops, classes, and your own projects.)
How much does it cost to get started?
The Starter Kit is only $199 plus tax. This kit is customizable (choose your own stamp sets, etc.) for a total value of $355. It includes everything you will need to get your business up and running; stamp sets and accessories as well as the business supplies.
What if I decide being a demonstrator isn't for me?
You simply stop placing orders. If you don’t meet the minimum requirement, Stampin’ Up! will just change your status to "inactive." There are no penalties if you give up your demonstratorship.
What kind of incentives will I receive as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator?

I'm not very creative, where do I get ideas for my workshops?
If you don't think that you can come up with workshop ideas on your own - you don't have to! There are MANY resources available to you! The Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter Collections, the Stampin' Up! Demonstrator website, the DVD in the Starter kit, the monthly Stampin' Success magazine, the Art Gallery on my website, and much more! All of these resources are there for your use - you can copy any of these projects for your workshops!
Can I attend any Stampin' Up! events as a new demonstrator?
Yes! All demonstrators are invited to attend the Annual Convention in July. It's a 4-day event with thousands of stampers! There are also regional events around the country you can attend, smaller, 1-day training seminars. Once you are promoted to the Supervisor level, you are eligible to attend a Leadership Event held in January.
