CASE-ing again - with a 3D Star!

So the card at the top of page 39 really looks NOTHING like this card, but it is where I started! That's the great thing about CASE-ing, you never know where it will lead!

I wanted to put the little strips of Designer Series Paper along the top and bottom of the card, but didn't find what I wanted. So I actually trimmed a 1/4" of the edge of the Star Bright Designer Series Paper Ornaments - Ta Da! Talk about resourceful! While I was at it, I found this little 3D Star Ornament that I thought would be fun on the card, and that's how it went. (AND it matches!)

I popped up the star with a pop up glue dot, used my Versamark for the background stars from Merry & Bright, and Silver Cord to make the star look like it's an ornament.

There are SO MANY ornaments in this package that you can use some for your Christmas Tree AND have plenty left over for other projects like this one!

CASE those Reindeer! (Page 36)

The card on page 36 with those adorable reindeer lined up just cracks me up! Unfortunately, I don't have that stamp set (yet) so I just used the layout of the card for this sample.

I wouldn't have thought to just punch a small piece of card stock with the Scallop Edge Punch as an accent. Usually, I'm punching over and over. It's a cute little accent!

For the image, I used my Orchid Opulence and Old Olive markers to color directly on the stamp image before stamping it. These flowers aren't silhouettes when you use more than one color!

It's not very visible in the picture, but I did stamp the greeting from my Best Yet stamp set in Orchid Opulence. I think I may go over it again with Basic Black - just so you can see it!

4 x 4 Notecard

Note cards are just so much fun to make! They are so quick, it's INSTANT gratification! I chose the card at the bottom of page 22 for my inspiration.

And here it is!

There's nothing too tough about it. I used my Coluzzle to cut the circle. Then I punched a bunch of 1/2" circles to make the scallops and glued them on the back of the circle. (See a tutorial I put together for that!)

The vases are stamped from the Window Dressing stamp set and colored with Blender Pens and Stampin' Pastels. (I did use a little Pink Pirouette ink for the flowers.)

I added a couple of buttons tied together, and that was it!

Poppin' Pastel Birthday

I just love how versatile the new Occasions Collection Hostess stamp set is! With so many "occasions" phrases, you have something for any occasion! (I guess that was the point, wasn't it?)

For pages 20 and 21 of the catalog, I chose to use the layout of the card at the bottom of page 21, but the stamped flower idea from the top of page 21.

I used Versamark ink and inked up the very end of the long stamp with the flower on it. I stamped it over and over again to make my bouquet. Then I used a q-tip and my Stampin' Pastels to color the flowers and make them pop! I used a marker to create the stems.

I did use the Stamp-a-Ma-Jig to line up the "Happy Birthday To You" phrase, there's no way I would have gotten that right!

Thank You Thursday - and CASE-ing all in one!

Moving on to pages 18 and 19 in the catalog, I found some really pretty cards! A couple of them used the sewing machine and thread to add some fun embellishments. Not me! I'd rather add some faux stitching instead!

Here's the close up first. I used my paper piercing tool from the Crafters Tool Kit, lined up my template and pierced away. I didn't intent to have two lines, but when I used the wrong line on the bottom, I added another and matched it on the top! (Happy Accident!?)

For the greeting, I stamped that first, then lined it up in my Word Window Punch window so that I could catch most of it. Then to make it stand out, I went around the outside with my Certainly Celery Marker and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

And the full card...like it?

Getting Back to CASE-ing!

Since the new catalog is here, I thought I'd jump back into CASE-ing the card samples that fill it's pages! This time, I'm going to just go through the catalog page by page (or two pages by two pages.)

This layout comes from page 17 at the top. I liked how the word "celebrate" was broken up and stamped down the card. So I did the same with the Occasions Collection stamp set. I definitely had to use my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig for that one!

I also used the Die Cut Blooms and layered the flowers on top of each other. Instead of piercing the paper along the top of the Pumpkin Pie card stock, I used my Pumpkin Pie Marker and just added dots along the top.

SIMPLE, QUICK, but cute too! This also happens to be one of the cards we're making at the Stamp-a-Stack I have scheduled for Saturday, the 23rd. We'll be making 12 cards, 3 each of 4 designs. Cost is $30. Please RSVP by the 16th so I can put everything together for you!

CASE #10 - Page 64

Did you think I forgot about CASE-ing the Collection? Nope...just took a back seat for a little while to Color Inspiration. :)

I've been wanting to do something with my Pick a Petal Classy Brass Template for a while, so I actually picked a card in the catalog this time, rather than randomly flipping. I needed something with a circle on it so I could paper pierce it.

I found the card on page 64 of the Spring/Summer Collection with the cute little blue cat on it.

I switched the image and the sentiment, but the general layout is the same. Since I wanted to keep with a PINK ONLY theme, the colors I used were Pretty in Pink and Pixie Pink. I also used the Pink Rhinestone Brads and Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon!

If you look closely, you can see that I used the "paper tole" technique. The flower is actually 3 pieces stacked on top of one another.

CASE #9 - Page 48

No stamping required for this card! Just a bunch of paper crafting! I used the card at the bottom of page 48 in the catalog as my guide.

The first thing I changed (or was it the last?) was the ribbon direction. I attached the designer paper before I tied the ribbon, and just didn't want to take the card apart, so the ribbon went another way! (Isn't that Kraft Taffeta Ribbon pretty?)

I also added some stitching, but my zig-zags are fake! (Love that paper piercing tool in the Crafter's Tool Kit!) The other thing...I used Rub-On's, no stamps! What do you think? (I'm thinking I need to use the Kraft Card Stock more often!)

PS - I forgot to mention...the flower on the card is also a rub on - and I colored in the middle of it with a Stampin' Write marker - who knew you could color on rub-on's?

CASE #6 - Page 89

Yep - I'm back on track!

I flipped to page 89 and found the cutest card at the top! Of course I HAD to use my new Summer Picnic Designer Paper! It's so festive and cheerful!

I put the card together first using bashful blue brads on the ribbon instead of staples, which was cute, but it seemed like all I saw were the brads! So...I took them out, and stapled instead. I thought it was much better - what do you think?

For the flower, I stamped it twice, and cut one out. Then popped it up with a dimensional just to add a little more interest. I LOVE the cherries, don't you? :)

The other thing I did was to use my Basic Black Marker to just ink up the word "Friends" on the stamp with the saying on it and stamp directly on to the Bashful Blue card stock. I colored inside the letters with my Bashful Blue Marker - twice to darken it more. It turned out great! That's the nice thing about matching paper and inks - you can't go wrong!
